Halloween has been a favorite holiday over the years and every time, people are buzzing for the night where they get to show off their costumes.
Many people have debated which type of costumes are better; matching or solo, simple or intricate, spooky or pretty.
“Whether it’s your first year choosing matching couple Halloween costumes, or you’re on a mission to top last year’s look with something even more unforgettable, there’s no shortage of Halloween costume ideas out there.” says Maisie Peppitt on Hitched.
A New Hartford BOCES student also gave me her opinions on Halloween.
After telling me that she has done matching costumes with her friends before, she then told me her preferences on matching. “I like to match costumes because it makes me feel connected to my friends while still being unique,” says Nora Cole. “It helps me to feel more in the Halloween spirit.”
She also believes that a costume should have its own unique personality. “I think that complex costumes are better because they have more design to them and more personality.” Nora tells me.
“My favorite part of Halloween is coming back home after trick or treating, and watching Halloween movies or eating my candy while talking to friends,” Nora says.
The debate whether it’s better to match or make your own continues. I believe that it’s better to match with friends because it makes the whole night more fun. Everything is more fun if it’s with friends and Halloween is a great opportunity to express yourself the way you want.
Although, a disadvantage of matching costumes might be that you and your group might not be able to agree on an idea. You might not have all the same interests and it could be hard to pick out a costume that you both like.
“Half the fun of Halloween is getting creative; the other is celebrating with friends.” says Diane J Cho on People. “So why not have double the fun this year with a group costume?”
Though you could have fun by yourself with your own costume, it’s going to be much more fun going out with friends.
