When you ask someone, What’s your favorite holiday? Most will say Christmas, Halloween, or Thanksgiving. But have you ever wondered why the spring traditions are slowly disappearing? For example, Easter isn’t celebrated as much as the most popular ones. Today I will be talking about why society picks the same three holidays.
Most people enjoy the joy and lights and the warming comfort those three holidays bring. The traditions are more broad and worldwide. Holidays such as St. Patty’s day, Valentines, Easter, and the Fourth of July are more forgotten and people don’t really celebrate them.
Many of these celebrations can be controversial due to people’s different beliefs. The way you were raised sometimes determines if you want to continue this tradition or not.
I decided to do some research on the three most favorite holidays. According to the student newspaper The Beacon,“Halloween allows us to dress up as someone else for a night, and celebrate through scary movies, costumes, and masses of candy. Who doesn’t love dressing up with friends to go out.”
Halloween is a good time to express your own style without any judgement. It brings people together and this tradition of becoming someone or something you want to be is possible and people love that thrill of having that power to be anything.
Moving on to the next holiday, The Beacon reports that “Thanksgiving is an underrated celebration that brings families together. In modern days, it is a sweet and wholesome tradition that emphasizes the importance of loved ones and giving back to the community.
“This holiday brings a warm simple gathering. It reminds families and loved ones to reconnect and all connect through good food. This holiday is very well-known in American history.”
Lastly, the most popular holiday is Christmas.
“ Christmas always comes to mind. This major holiday gives us at least a week off school. Time with cousins, grandparents, It offers many activities like ice skating, sledding, decorating the house, and staying cozy in your home. There are even songs and movies dedicated to how great Christmas is.”
Christmas doesn’t just come with snow and decorations but fun winter activities; it’s a different type of feeling. Suddenly everyone seems to be happy when Christmas is around. It brings joy and helps people be more aware of how lucky they are.
So what’s your favorite holiday, and do you agree with this article?
