What are some good electives that you can take in school?
In NH there are various electives to choose from and although some kids just stick with a class simply for the credit, I believe they will end up truly enjoying them.
For creative students, there are several options. One of my favorite is journalism. This elective is my personal favorite because it gives you the freedom to write about anything you want.
“I really enjoy the social aspect and the way that we have total control of what we put and don’t put in the paper,”
said Sean Morris, a student who took journalism in the fall semester.
As well as the freedom to be creative with these topics. It’s a very hands-on class and at times you will be interviewing other people for your articles and this is good for building social skills.
“ I really like teaching journalism because students get to write for a specific audience. I think sometimes students believe they don’t like writing because they don’t like essay writing. Sometimes, these students like writing for the school newspaper because they get to write with an authentic voice,” says Mrs. Clive, Journalism teacher and advisor to Spartan Expressions.
So far, into the 2024 spring semester journalism has been personally one of my favorites. I enjoy it because of the freedom I get in my writing along with the limited rules when it comes to forming an article.
