School is like a job to most kids. ADP is like a reward for the seniors for all these years and to take stress off. Students should have the ability to juggle work, classes, and their personal life stress free so why not make it easier for them?

You have to be eligible for ADP which includes you coming to school no tardies or late and you have to be passing all your classes. ADP is only an option for seniors and it’s because seniors are getting older and have jobs now so leaving early is a blessing for those long shifts most high school students work.
“When students decide their classes and schedules, students should consider their long-term goals and what will best serve them throughout their high school career. This approach can help students make choices that align with their academic and personal needs, making them feel more forward-thinking and strategic in their decision-making” says Andrew MacDonald.
However, the biggest win of all is the sleep factor and we all know all high school students are nocturnal so ADP is a lifesaver. When you’re juggling all these classes and you’re able to go home instead of study halls to catch up on work is amazing (or sleep).

Eldin is a student at New Hartford and he had ADP last semester too which gave him the ability to leave school early or come in late. This ability gave him the opportunity to catch up on work he said which gave him the chance to get that grade up!
“Yeah I believe ADP is 100% worth it with the option of being able to leave school early,” Eldin Andejila said.
“Having ADP is a gift because not many have it but you do have to stay on top of your grades to keep it, along with showing up to school on time or it can be taken away.” says Eldin Andejila. Making sure you are on task and staying focused in school gets you rewards for it and it shows such as senior trips, senior pranks, and etc. Like Eldin said, I believe that ADP is a gift and I think more and more schools around the country should start putting ADP in their high school students’ schedules. ”I didn’t really care to get it because yes, leaving school is nice but it’s only an 80 minute difference” says Amedeo Scarchilli. Most don’t seem to want it but it’s not because they don’t need it they just don’t seem it’s too big of a difference and that’s their opinion.
In the end the point of ADP isn’t just to shave 80 minutes away from your day but, more about treating the seniors like upcoming adults and giving them the freedom they would have as an adult. Giving the students that balance between work and school is preparing them for the better. A break is what most think ADP is but giving the students that responsibility and flexibility is a gift that no one should turn down!
