Genshin Impact is a great game. While I was playing on my phone, I came across a video about this game; out of curiosity, I decided to give it a try. I started playing this game in March of last year. This game really blew me away; it is unlike any other game I’ve played before—it is an open-world game.
Genshin Impact is an action role-playing game developed by Shanghai miHoYo company. The game features an anime-style open-world environment and adopts a free-to-play, gacha-based gameplay model. The global open beta for *Genshin Impact* began on September 28, 2020, with the official servers going live at 10:00 AM on that same day. Shortly after its release, this game became popular with many people. Players love this game’s combat mechanics and the sense of immersion provided by its open world, but I absolutely detest its gacha system.
The game’s narrative unfolds on the fictional continent of Teyvat, a world divided into seven nations—each themed around a specific element and governed by a corresponding deity. This game brings together styles from various countries. The protagonist of the story is the “Traveler,” one of a pair of siblings who journeyed across countless worlds together until they were forcibly separated in Teyvat by an enigmatic deity. Players assume the role of the Traveler, embarking on a journey across the seven nations—accompanied by Paimon—in search of their sole lost kin. Of course, the storyline cannot simply end—or come to an abrupt halt—the moment the protagonist finds their family. The narrative is divided into a main storyline and a layer of quests with a rich history provided through pieces of information such as books and the lore embedded in weapons. As the plot unfolds layer by layer, the tasks remain a source of constant bewilderment for the player; only upon the completion of the mission does everything finally become completely clear. This is very annoying to me.The game’s developers have established Gnostic mythology as the core of *Genshin Impact*’s worldview and storyline. This mythological framework explores the theme of “the relationship between humanity and the world.”

This is an open-world action role-playing game in which players can select up to four characters to participate in combat, with the ability to switch between them rapidly during battle. Players can enhance their characters’ strength through various means, such as leveling up or upgrading their equipment. In addition to exploration, players can also undertake various challenges to earn rewards.
There was one time when, in order to land the role I wanted so badly, I had to undertake all sorts of challenges and explorations—and it was truly agonizing. You can also cooperate with other players in this game. Up to four players can play together in the Overworld or a Realm. Additional characters or weapons can be obtained through a gacha system and in-game events. The gacha system requires several types of premium in-game currency. Of course, this type of currency can also be found in treasure chests located in various places throughout the world. To prevent players from losing their sense of novelty, this game incorporates a wide variety of gameplay mechanics.
Emily Simmons is a junior at New Hartford who likes playing Genshin Impact. .
“I play Genshin Impact because I really enjoy the story as well as the exploration aspect, along with the characters. Specifically Arlecchino,” Emily said. “This game is amazing if you’re into open world exploration, gacha games, fantasy games, sandbox games (because of Miliestra and the teapot), and combat mechanics that you can experiment with for years on end. It’s also good for people who are interested in deep world building and lore that relates back to the real world, or even collectors because of how many achievements, characters, weapons, books, and other things there are to collect.”

Emily has been playing the game since 2021 when a friend was talking about it online. She said she started to play during the end of the first Lantern Rite, right before the first Windbloom took place.
In this game, the setting I like the most: when a person’s powerful wish captures the attention of the gods, they bestow a portion of their own power upon that chosen individual—a power that manifests in tangible form as a divine artifact known as a “Vision.” This “Vision” grants its wielder the ability to harness a specific elemental force.
“I absolutely LOVE Genshin, I could go on about it for hours if given the chance. I’m adventure rank 60, all the areas are 100% explored, and any time a new region or area drops I make it my number 1 goal to 100% it in at least a week.”
Whenever I enter a new map, I encounter new quests, storylines, and challenges. What gives me the greatest sense of accomplishment is when I complete each exploration and challenge, and it inspires me the most.
If you’re interested, you can give this game a try.
