The Heisman is the best individual award that a College Football player can win. This year’s Heisman race in my opinion has been narrowed down to three main candidates in my opinion: Fernando Mendoza Quarterback Indiana Hoosiers, Jeremiyah Love Running Back Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Julian Sayin Quarterback Ohio State Buckeyes
As of before the college football playoffs Fernando Mendoza Quarterback has led the Indiana Hoosiers to an 13-0 record and the #1 Ranking. In my opinion Fernando Mendoza’s biggest wins have been against #5 Oregon Ducks 30-20, against the Illinois Fighting Illini 63-10 Illinois was ranked #9 at the time of that game, and against Ohio State who was ranked #1 before the game in the Big 10 championship 13-10. Fernando Mendoza Stats are 2,980 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions before the college football playoffs.
Julian Sayin Quarterback has led the Ohio State Buckeyes to an 12-1 record Julian Sayin biggest wins are against Texas who were ranked #1 when Ohio State played them 14-7, against Illinois 34-16, and against Michigan Ohio State’s biggest rivals 27-9, and Ohio State’s only loss was against Indiana who before the college playoffs are now ranked #1. Julian Sayin stats are 3,323 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions before the college football playoffs.
Jeremiyah Love Running Back hasn’t led Notre Dame Fighting Irish to their 10-2 record, but he has been one of the biggest factors of Notre Dame’s offense. Jeremiyah Love, in my opinion, besides the quarterback position is one of the best position players in college football. Notre Dame hasn’t really won any of their biggest games because both of their losses were to Texas A&M and Miami, two teams ranked in the top 20. I think Notre Dame’s biggest win of the season was their blow out win against Syracuse 70-7 and Jeremiyah Love did play a big part in that game with 171 yards and three touchdowns on only 8 carries. Jeremiyah Love’s stats are 199 carries, 1372 yards, and 18 touchdowns and these are his final stats since Notre Dame won’t be in the college playoffs and have opted out of playing in their bowl game.
Out of these players, my favorite player for the Heisman is Jeremiyah Love because I think if we look at overall seasons and individual player stats I think Jeremiyah Love’s are definitely impressive.
Kemon Sims, a student at New Hartford, also has Jeremiyah Love as his Heisman favorite due to Jermiyah’s ability to break off long runs consistently throughout the season.
