New to the high school, Mrs. McDermott is an eleventh grade resource teacher who radiates positivity and kindness through helping her students to overcome academic challenges and meet their goals..
Mrs. McDermott is thrilled to be back in the school that she graduated from, and expresses excitement about her new position and students. She finds this job both challenging yet highly rewarding.
“I enjoy working with my students and helping them achieve their academic goals every day,” Mrs. McDermott said.
After graduating from New Hartford, she attended Suny Plattsburgh where she earned her degree in education and then went onto her masters at The College of St. Rose in Albany.
Since becoming a teacher, Mrs. McDermott has worked at CVA as a kindergarten teacher, Frankfort as a special education teacher, and most recently at E.R Hughes as kindergarten- third grade resource teacher.
Mrs. McDermott lives in New Hartford with her husband and two children Keegan and Mia. When she isn’t at school, you can find her cooking many dishes like chicken riggies, pizza and chicken pot pie, and traveling to tropical places.
Students say Mrs. McDermott is a great addition to the school.
“She is very fair, and determined to help us do well in school and be successful,” says junior Elizabeth Burnett.
“Mrs. McDermott is kind, helpful, and funny!” says Christopher Belmonte, who is also a junior.
Mrs. McDermott has also earned the respect of her colleagues at the high school. Mrs. Clive worked closely with Mrs. McDermott who supported some of her English 11 students during the fall semester.
“We are so fortunate to have Mrs. McDermott at the high school,” Mrs. Clive said. “She is dedicated to helping all of our students succeed. I appreciate her compassion and energy!”
Mrs. McDermott is very excited to continue working with her students and helping them grow every day. You can find her in Room 275 upstairs near the social studies classrooms.
