The Grammys took place for three and a half hours. Before the Grammys even started Channel E broadcasted interviews with singers and celebrities walking the red carpet in their signature outfits.
Students of New Hartford Senior High School were eager to share their thoughts about the 2025 Grammys.
“My top performances I would have to say would be Doechii’s, Chappell Roan’s, and Sabrina Carpenters. I love how for Sabrina’s[performance] she did the costume change on stage– that’s always been so cool to me how they do that so perfectly!” said New Hartford Senior Alannah Nole. “I love how she performed like she does/did on tour like the same dances and stuff but with her own twist!”
“I feel like a bunch of the singers were definitely not given what they deserve,”said New Hartford Senior Bella Silva. “The math has been proven and singers like Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift were very robbed of their chances.”
There were many memorable performances such as Benson Boone in his all blue sparkly outfit performing “Beautiful Things.”Another person that performed was Billie Eilish singing “BIRDS OF A FEATHER.” There was also a surprise performance by the Weeknd at the Grammys.
Doechii performed during the Grammys singing her the two songs “CATFISH” and “DENIAL IS A RIVER.” Her music is categorized as rapping. She was wearing a dress that was gray and white during the performance. After an outfit change, she appeared wearing a bathing suit with white with red and blue stripes. She was nominated for 3 awards such as Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap album. Doechii had won the Best Rap album with her album “Alligator Bites Never Heal”.
“Doechii’s performance was just mind blowing like the way she had the dancers literally start right next to the artists was so sick and she’s honestly just so sick!” said New Hartford Senior Alannah Nole.
The“Record of the Year” was won by Kendrick Lamar with the song “Not Like Us.”Another award that was presented was “Best Pop Solo Performance” was won by Sabrina Carpenter with the song “Espresso.” A third Award that was announced was “Best New Artist” which was won by “Chappell Roan.”
Alannah Nole described Chappell Roan’s performance as “incredible.”
“I love her song ‘Pink Pony Club’ and it was so cool to see that she brought an actual like pink pony on stage and performed on it like that was so cool!” Alannah said. “I Also love how she got the crowd to sing along too because it was awesome to see even the fellow artists on their feet singing the lyrics Like Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes I saw they were awesome!”
There were many more incredible awards presented and won by very talented artists that night.
‘”It was an incredible year in music and these nominations reflect the work of a voting body that is more representative of the music community than ever before,” said Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. in a press release when the list was announced in November.
