The Ecology Club focuses on learning all about nature. It involves studying trees, growing plants, and even a 4-day trip to Raquette Lake.
Club President, Margaret Reale, shared some information about the club. Margaret explains her plans for a fall hike, cross country skiing in the winter, and white water rafting in the spring to get members out and moving in nature.
“Since those are more short term one date events/activities the club is also looking into a more longer term project such as growing a plant or building birdhouses (both activities we have done in the past),”Margaret said.“Ecology club is important to me because I love nature and think it should be appreciated by others. I love to go camping and hiking and nature is my happy place. I hope that through this club others can also share this!”
Other officers include Jae-Hoon Lee, Madalynn Bailey, and Madelynn Drake, and meets every Monday in room 188.
Another of these officers, Jae-Hoon Lee, has thoughts to share.
“ I am very excitedly looking forward to the mountain hikes and white water rafting,” Jae-Hoon Lee said. “I find Ecology Club fun because I believe it is arguably one of the most active club that the school provides. Ranging from hikes to rafting, it gives students the opportunity to go out into the nature and experience its fascinating beauty.”
Antonio Camarra was one of the students who participated in the Raquette Lake trip this fall.
“We walked in the forest , then watched the stars for awhile. We went hiking for 2.5 miles,” says Antonio about his favorite things experienced on the trip. Antonio explains his favorite activities were visiting the sauna, canoeing, and kayaking.
