For the past 10 to 15 years New Hartford High School always had a homecoming week, but never a homecoming dance. This had made many students very angry because they wanted one. Some students thought there is no point of a homecoming week without a dance. Finally in the 2024-2025 school year, the PTSA decided to sponsor a homecoming dance while the student council planned it. Students were thrilled and felt blessed for the opportunity.
As the dance started many people including seniors Julia Albano, Paula Balarezo, Ian Evans and juniors Mathu Mbugua and Peyton Way all thought that the dance was going to be amazing and it was.
‘’What was good was that there was no shortage of people to talk to and no way you could get bored,’’ said Mathu.
Peyton Way also agreed on this statement because he said everyone got along and people started singing and dancing which was the best part. The DJ played some really good songs especially “Party in the USA” by Miley Cryus and “As It Was” by Harry Styles. Also many people loved the photo booth.
Paula and Aryana said they thought the best part of homecoming was “getting ready before the dance and taking pictures.’’
The homecoming dance did not have a set dress code but many people wore different outfits. Julia Albano wore a dress from Windsor, Paula Balarezo wore a black dress with heels, Aryana Primarolo wore a blue dress with gold heels. Ian Evans wore a nice button up with black pants and Mathu wore a purple button up with dress pants.
I thought the homecoming dance was amazing. The spirit week activities made students look forward to the dance. The best part of the dance was the DJ and the photo booth. The photo booth made people have fun with friends while taking pictures. The decorations were put together very nicely and I thought the parents did a great job setting up. Lasly what shocked me the most was there was almost the whole school who went to the dance. It was a very nice turn out.
Hopefully next year and the years to come the school continues to sponsor a homecoming dance.
