Mr. Carnot is a face around the school that you may have never seen before. Because he is employed through BOCES, and works only half of the day in our school. If your schedule doesn’t line up, you may have never known that we had a new gym teacher in our district.
Growing up Mr. Carnot lived in Pawcatuck, Connecticut, attending Stonington High School. After High School he attended Three Rivers Community College for his associates degree, Central Connecticut State University for his bachelor’s degree, and Utica College for his master’s degree. He has been a teacher for four years and this is his second year teaching in the New Hartford School District.
Mr. Carnot teaches the morning PE classes and says that his favorite part about teaching is, “Being able to take something I love and share it with young people so that they could develop their own appreciation and relationship with sports and physical activity.”
A very important part of Mr Carnot’s life is football. He has been coaching football since 2009, coaching at the college level for 4 years from Division 1 to Division 3 schools. He now coaches for the Varsity football program at Waterville High School.
When Mr. Carnot is not teaching, he enjoys coaching football, playing and watching all kinds of sports, working out, hiking and just staying active.
A lot of people in our building have great things to say about their experiences with Mr. Carnot, Our principal Mr. Benson says, “We are all very happy to have Mr. Carnot back at the high school. He is very enthusiastic and seems to be well-liked by all of our students.”
“He adds a lot to our community, especially in our Physical Education Program,” Mr. Romanow, dean of students, adds.
Mr. Carnot recently opened a new chapter of his life last July, when he got married to his wife Sarah. They have a cat named Scrappy together and are now expecting a daughter in October! Even though Mr Carnot is so new in our school district, he’s already very appreciated by faculty, students, and staff. We are all very excited to watch him continue his new journey, and his students are especially excited for Mr. Carnot to finally spill about what they are going to name the baby.
