New Hartford Latin students attended the field trip for Latinalia (Latin-day Competition) held at Le Moyne College in Syracuse. This year’s theme was “Citius, Altius, Fortius” in recognition of the upcoming Olympics in Paris and was attended by around 200 students from five schools. Thirty New Hartford students were competing against students in grades 7-12 and Latin levels Intro-AP from Baldwinsville, East Syracuse-Minoa, Fayetteville-Manlius, and Skaneateles. New Hartford students won a combined 29 gold, silver or bronze medals at one of the many sessions offered. The sessions were: Build a Stadium, Vinco, Living Pictionary, Rota Fortuna, Scavenger Hunt, Verba/Game Room, Certamen, and Catapult Contest. They won 9 ribbons for earning 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place on academic tests: derivatives, vocabulary, mythology, Roman culture, and pentathlon. They had a great time!
