Spartan Hockey only has one loss at home and 17-2-1 overall record which shows Spartan spirit lives within the New Hartford Recreation Center. Their only losses are to Skaneateles who seems to be their main competition within the section.
“Hopefully Win it all” was the goal according to player Gavin Lapolla when discussing the season before playoffs. They sadly lost to CBA 2-1 in overtime.
They started out the season at 6-0. Then it happened: Skaneateles beat them the first time. However, since then they have gone 11-1-1 which shows a loss not getting to them and the team’s ability to bounce back stronger.
Some of the highlights so far on the season have been beating New Hartford’s rival Whitesboro 7-0 and 4-3.There was also their big wins against Auburn 10-1, Ontario Bay 9-1, and Clinton 7-1 and 8-0.
During the season, Gavin Lapolla said, “It’s going very well.”
The reason behind their success, according to Mr.Banek, New Hartford’s athletic director, is that “the team has a good group of players with a lot of experience and overall team speed.” He also spoke about his thoughts on the future of New Hartford hockey considering they will lose 10 seniors this year.
“There’s a lot of kids in youth programs and the future will always be bright,” said Mr. Banek.
