On December 8, four students and a teacher plunged into the 39 degree water of Oneida Lake, with surrounding 30-degree weather. They successfully raised $1,000 for the Special Olympics and continued to spread awareness about the importance of inclusion.
The team was composed of Addison Cornish, Alex French, Kayle Frawley, Mr. Todd Nelson, and Ms. Jill Davies-Nelson.
Across the United States, and even globally, polar plunges are promoted as a way to increase donations and awareness to a certain cause. In some locations, wading into freezing water has even been seen as a tradition.
