Many athletes dream of going to the state finals. Some girls on the Varsity soccer team did this 3 times in their high school career . As this team’s season came to an end the girls had a lot to say about their season.
As the 2024-2025 Spartan soccer kicked off the girls started the season with an impressive 12 – 3 regular season record before starting their path to the state finals. In the playoffs they beat Indian River, Central Valley and Mexico in the sectional final. In the State playoffs the Lady Spartans defeated Massena and Schalmont in the regional final. Then beat Rye before falling to Pittsford Mendon in the state finals.
Senior Aryana Primarolo and she had a lot to say about her senior season.er favorite game moment was when the team “ won sectionals and state semi finals and everyone went crazy that we won.’
Also Aryana said that their coach Mr. Duross is a positive coach and gives constructive criticism without negativity and this led to our team being successful for so many years.
”The highlight of my season was our practices and spending time together at pasta parties together,” Aryana said. “ I wish I had another year playing highschool soccer but I am happy with how the season went. I do wish that we could have come out with the state final win.”
Aryana’s teammates senior Paula Balrazo and senior Amanda Graziano they both said their highlights of their seasons were having fun at the team dinners and team lunches.
One of the biggest challenges the girls said they faced was having good communication and playing together.
‘“However I think a challenge we faced was not always playing the most competitive teams in the regular season to prepare for the postseason,”Paula said and Amanda also agreed with this statement.
Although the season didn’t finish how they wanted it to, the girls still had a fantastic run and not many teams in New York even get the chance to play in one State final match, yet alone three. From team dinners to team bonding outside of soccer, the team chemistry leads to the team being successful.
As some of the girls on 2024-2025 are graduating and heading to a new chapter in life. There are 10 seniors leaving and there are going to be spots that need to be filled. But judging from the coaches’ expressions, they should be just fine.
