Everybody’s got their love for at least one of the holiday seasons. Christmas, Hanukkah, 4th Of July, Easter, etc. People have a variety of reasons why they’re celebrating depending on what that holiday means to them. I think the most important part of a holiday is just simply being there for somebody around any holiday because simple things like that in life are sometimes all that some people need.
While people celebrate different holidays, their purpose is similar: celebrating what you love or what you choose to believe in with your family and friends or being grateful for who and what you have in life.
“To spend time with friends and family and remember what’s truly important in life,” New Hartford parent Jeniffer Neal said.
In that case though, people still have favorite holidays that they like for different reasons.
Mrs. Anggaputra, a special education teacher at the high school likes celebrating Halloween because “it’s a holiday when you can interact with people you don’t know, which is an opportunity to interact with people you don’t know in the community.”
Mrs. Fountain, a teacher assistant, said, “My favorite holiday is Christmas because I like to look at all the decorations and lights that people put on their houses.”
MacKenzie Conover, a student at New Hartford Senior High School said, “Christmas because I get to see my family and spend multiple days with them.”
Celebrating holidays is on of the many ways people can show someone that they care and you don’t have to be related by to show that you care about someone because I believe anyone regardless of where anybody comes from or who they are (color, sex, beliefs, etc), can be just as important and capable of doing good in the world or showing someone that they care just as much as anyone else.
The basic point of holidays is simple enough: the actual focus of holidays is “a time to celebrate important events, connect with loved ones, and share values that bring people together,” according to the https://www.usa.gov/holidays website.
Not everybody in the world is fortunate enough to celebrate holidays either because they can’t afford it or health concerns and preparing for holidays can be stressful for some people, but a lot of people still see holidays for its positives and as long as you go out of your way to at least try one thing to provide for someone else indeed in some kind of way, that’s more than enough to make the world a better place or impact someone in a positive way. The real meaning of any holiday is discovered by celebrating special events and acknowledging what you have and love in life.
