Winter Break: A time filled with holiday spirit, cold and snowy days, and a time when students get a break from their usual scheduled 7:45-2:20 every weekday. Students often look forward to this time of the year, as they get some time to relax, and enjoy some things they might not always have the time to do. As winter break approaches within the next month, New Hartford students have been talking about their plans for the nearing season.
Many people are taking this time to spend time with the people closest to them. Senior Ava Lakeman said she’s going to enjoy her break “with her friends and family” while she celebrates her eighteenth birthday over the break. She’s also “visiting family in Buffalo.” Being close to people, especially around the holiday season, can definitely lighten people’s mood.
Another senior, Kelsey Lally, is also taking advantage over this winter break.
“I’m definitely going to hang out with my friends,” Kelsey said. “I want to try skiing, maybe go ice skating.”
Winter break is a great time to do some winter-specific activities, whether it’s going outside and interacting with the weather, or staying cozy inside.
A lot of people are also working over the break. Mori Reichenbach, a senior, said she is going to be “spending most of her time working at Dunkin.” Working is a good way to earn real life experience and make money, especially with a lot of available free time over break.
Logan Sainsbury, a junior, agrees. “I’ll mostly be working, hopefully,” he said. “With whatever freetime I have left, I want to enjoy it with family and friends.”
Having a balance during winter break can really be beneficial as it manages responsibility with school and work, as well as taking time for personal enjoyment with the people closest to you.
Winter break is approaching, and especially with the extra long break this year, sixteen full days, people are already starting to get ready. Spending time with loved ones, working, and participating in seasonal activities are definitely good ways to enjoy the time off, and people are excited for this upcoming holiday season and break.
