Photos can accomplish many goals the photographer has in mind, such as conveying emotions, explaining an event, or widening our world view. The school’s very own Photography Club can help explore further into the art of the photo. The Photography Club’s next meeting is on October 10, 2024.
Mrs. Brownsell, the adviser of Photography Club at the high school, provided some details about what students can expect to see from the club this year.
She first explains what the club is going to cover. She states that the members will take pictures outside of class and share photos amongst each other. She will teach members how to edit and tweak their photos. By the end these new members will be proficient photographers.
She’d like to see consistent participation out of the members. She explains how a lot of the time members are involved during the beginning but the involvement starts to dwindle over time. She states that she is considering a small outing as well.
She then goes on to state how former members often took a variety of photos such as on vacations or hikes. Many photographers are nature-oriented. People have taken architectural photos on many occasions as well.
Imaad Masqood, who now is a senior in New Hartford Senior High School, has participated in Photography Club.
“I enjoy the photo-sharing aspect where during our meetings we all just share pictures we took during the week,” says Imaad.
His tips on taking quality photos are to center the subject and make the picture as focused as possible.
“People are probably the best subjects. Landscapes are nice too, especially pictures of a sunset or sunrise. I also enjoy taking pictures of cars,” Imaad says.
